Japanese Boy Names

This is a collection of baby names from Japan along with their meanings. Japan is based in Eastern Asia and is an island chain between the North Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Japan, east of the Korean Peninsula.

Japanese naming Conventions

In Japanese, the surname will always appear before the given (commonly referred to as first name in the West) name. Thus, a person with surname Yamamoto and given name Fumio is referred to as Yamamoto Fumio. In the common naming order of Western European countries, this would be "Fumio Yamamoto". Japanese names are usually written in kanji lettering. It is also worth noting that it is rare for more than one given name to be used.
