Polish male boy Baby Names

Below you will find a comprehensive list of Polish boy names along with the meaning. Polish girl names are listed on a seperate page.

A Polish given (or first) name, similarly to names in most European cultures, consists of two main elements: imie, the first name, or the given name; followed by nazwisko, the last name, surname, or the family name. The elements which contribute to first names in Poland are heavily influenced by three factors: civil law, Church law, and tradition.

It is legal requirement for a first name to indicate the person's gender and other eleemnts including the use of International names were strictly controlled until march 2015. Almost all Polish female names end in the vowel -a, while most male names end in a consonant or a vowel other than a. There are, however, a few male names (which are very old and uncommon), such as Barnaba, which end in the letter "a".
